Warning Lamp Activation

Warning Lamp Behavior After Ignition ON

As soon as operating voltage is supplied to the SRSCM ignition input, the SRSCM activates the warning lamp for LED lamp check. The lamp should illuminate for 6 seconds during the initialization phase and then turn off. To alert the driver, the warning lamp should illuminate for 6 seconds and go off for one second, then remain on continuously after operating voltage is supplied, if an active malfunction exists.
  1. Active fault.
  2. Normal or history fault only.
  3. When the ignition is turned on in variant coding (EOL) mode, the airbag warning lamp illuminates and flashes at 1-second intervals until coding is completed. If variant coding is completed normally, the airbag warning lamp illuminates for 6 seconds and then turns off. Otherwise, the airbag warning lamp flashes continuously at 1-second intervals.
    1. If variant coding is completed normally
    2. If variant coding is not completed
If an active airbag system fault or an internal SRSCM fault is present, variant coding (EOL) cannot be completed. In this case, repeat the variant coding (EOL) procedure after troubleshooting with GDS.
  4. Loss of SRSCM battery power: warning lamp remains on continuously.
  5. Loss of internal operating voltage: warning lamp remains on continuously.
  6. Loss of microprocessor operation: warning lamp remains on continuously.
  7. SRSCM not connected: warning lamp remains on continuously.
Independent Activation of SRSCM Warning Lamp
There are certain failure conditions under which the SRSCM cannot function and therefore cannot control the standard warning lamp. In these cases, the standard warning lamp is activated directly by the corresponding circuit, which operates independently of the SRSCM. These cases are as follows.
Warning Lamp Activation
The warning lamp indicates whether the passenger airbag (PAB) is on or off, depending on whether the passenger seat is occupied. If the passenger seat is empty or occupied by a child (or child seat), the passenger airbag is turned off and the warning lamp illuminates to inform the driver that the PAB is off.
As soon as operating voltage is supplied to the SRSCM ignition input, the SRSCM activates the warning lamp. The OCS (Occupant Classification System) will send an undetermined status to the SRSCM as the default setting for passenger airbag deployment during the test period. After the ignition is turned on, the warning lamp illuminates for 4 seconds and turns off for 3 seconds during the initialization phase, then switches to NO until a valid activation message is received from the OCS (Occupant Classification System).
