What to Do in an Emergency

Towing Services

[A]: Dolly

If emergency towing is required, we recommend that it be performed by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer or a commercial towing service.

Proper lifting and towing procedures are necessary to prevent damage to the vehicle. It is recommended to use wheel dollies or a flatbed.

CAUTION

Do not tow an all-wheel drive vehicle with the wheels on the ground. This may cause serious damage to the transaxle or the all-wheel drive system.

On 2-wheel drive vehicles, it is permissible to tow the vehicle with the rear wheels on the ground (without a dolly) and the front wheels off the ground.

If any of the loaded wheels or suspension components are damaged, or if the vehicle is towed with the front wheels on the ground, use a towing dolly under the front wheels.

When towing with a commercial tow truck without wheel dollies, always lift the front of the vehicle, not the rear.

CAUTION

• Do not tow the vehicle with the front wheels on the ground, as this may cause damage to the vehicle.

• Do not tow the vehicle using sling equipment. Use a wheel lift or flatbed equipment.

WARNING

If your vehicle is equipped with a rollover sensor, place the ignition switch in the LOCK/OFF or ACC position while towing the vehicle. The side airbag and curtain airbag may deploy if the sensor detects a rollover condition.

When towing the vehicle in an emergency without wheel dollies:

1. Turn the ignition switch to the ACC position.

2. Shift the gear shift lever to the N (Neutral) position.

3. Release the parking brake.

CAUTION

Failure to shift the shift lever to the N (Neutral) position may cause internal damage to the transmission.
