Description and Operation

Description

The AWD ECU distributes driving force to the front and rear wheels by controlling the multi-plate clutch in the transfer case. It analyzes input information, including wheel speed, accelerator pedal position, and steering wheel angle, according to road and driving conditions. The AWD vehicle has various power transmission conditions depending on driving and road conditions. Vehicle speed is received via CAN communication from the ABS/ESP ECU. CAN information includes APS, which indicates the driver's acceleration intent, engine torque, ABS/ESP operation signal, and gear position. The AWD ECU controls the BLDC motor, warning lamp, and indicator lamp, and communicates with the scan tool. When the vehicle operates in normal mode on regular roads above 60 km/h speed, it is controlled in 2WD mode. The ECU determines the driving force for the front and rear wheels by receiving signals from all sensors according to driving conditions, such as rapid start, cornering, and driving on low-friction road surfaces. Optimized torque suitable for the driving conditions is transmitted to the rear wheels through calculation and control of the transmitted torque data.
