The High Beam Assist (HBA) is a system that automatically adjusts the headlight range (switches between high and low beam) according to the brightness of other vehicles and road conditions.

Operating Condition

1. Place the headlamp switch in the AUTO position.

2. Turn on the high beams by pushing the lever away from you.

High Beam Assist (HBA) (Hyundai Palisade. High Beam Assist (HBA)) will illuminate.

3. The High Beam Assist (HBA) system will turn on when the vehicle speed is above 25 mph (40 km/h).

  • If the headlamp switch is pushed away while the High Beam Assist (HBA) system is operating, the HBA will turn off and the high beams will remain on continuously.
  • If the headlamp switch is pulled toward you while the high beams are off, the high beams will turn on without the High Beam Assist (HBA) function. When you release the light switch, the lever will return to the middle and the high beams will turn off.
  • If the headlamp switch is pulled toward you while the high beams are on with the High Beam Assist (HBA), the low beams will turn on and the High Beam Assist (HBA) system will turn off.
  • If the headlamp switch is in the headlamp ON position, the High Beam Assist (HBA) system turns off and the low beams stay on continuously.

When the High Beam Assist (HBA) system is operating, the high beams switch to low beams under any of the following conditions:

- When an oncoming vehicle is detected.
- When the tail lamps of a vehicle ahead are detected.
- When a headlamp or tail lamp of a motorcycle or bicycle is detected.
- When the ambient light is bright enough that high beams are not needed.
- When street lights or other light sources are detected.
- When the headlamp switch is not in the AUTO position.
- When the High Beam Assist (HBA) is turned off.
- When the vehicle speed is below 24 km/h.

Warning Light and Message

When the High Beam Assist (HBA) system is not operating properly, the "Check High Beam Assist" warning message will appear for a few seconds. After the message disappears, the master warning light (Hyundai Palisade. High Beam Assist (HBA)) will illuminate. Take your vehicle to an authorized HYUNDAI dealer and have the system checked.

WARNING

The system may not operate normally if any of the following conditions occur:

1) When the light from an approaching vehicle or the vehicle ahead is dim. Examples include:

  • When the headlights of an oncoming vehicle or the tail lights of a vehicle ahead are covered with dust, snow, or water.
  • When the headlights of an oncoming vehicle are off but the fog lights are on.

2) When the camera is significantly affected by external conditions. Examples may include:

  • When the headlamps of the vehicle are damaged or have not been repaired properly.
  • When the headlamps of the vehicle are not aimed properly.
  • When driving on a narrow, winding road or an uneven road.
  • When driving on an uphill or downhill road.
  • When only a portion of the vehicle's front is visible at an intersection or on a curved road.
  • When there is a traffic light, a reflective sign, a flashing sign or a mirror.
  • When road conditions are poor, such as when the road is wet or covered with snow.
  • When a vehicle suddenly appears from around a curve.
  • When the vehicle is tilted due to a flat tire or towing.
  • When the Lane Keeping Assist (LKA) system indicator light illuminates.
  • When the light from an oncoming or preceding vehicle is not detected due to exhaust smoke, steam, fog, snow, etc.
  • When the windshield is covered with foreign matter such as ice, dust, or fog, or is damaged.

3) When forward visibility is poor. Such examples may include:

  • When the headlights of oncoming vehicles or vehicles ahead are not detected due to poor external visibility (smog, smoke, dust, fog, heavy rain, snow, etc.).
  • When visibility through the windshield is poor.

WARNING

  • Do not attempt to disassemble the front view camera without the help of an authorized HYUNDAI dealer technician. If the camera is removed for any reason, the system may need to be recalibrated. Have the system inspected by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
  • If the windshield of your vehicle is replaced, the front view camera may need to be recalibrated. If this occurs, have your vehicle inspected and the system recalibrated by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
  • Be careful not to allow water to enter the High Beam Assist (HBA) system, and do not remove or damage the related parts of the High Beam Assist (HBA) system.
  • Do not place objects such as mirrors, white paper, etc. on the emergency pad that reflects light. The system may malfunction if sunlight is reflected.
  • Occasionally, the High Beam Assist (HBA) may not operate properly. The system is intended for your convenience only. It is the driver's responsibility to drive safely and always check road conditions for your safety.
  • If the system does not operate normally, manually change the headlamp setting between high beam and low beam.
