Side Airbags

Your vehicle is equipped with a side airbag on each front seat. The purpose of the airbag is to provide the driver and front passenger with additional protection beyond that offered by the seat belt.

Side airbags are designed to deploy in certain side impact collisions, depending on the severity of the crash.

Side airbags and side curtain airbags on both sides of the vehicle may deploy if a rollover or possible rollover is detected.

The side airbags are not designed to deploy in every side impact or rollover situation.

WARNING

To reduce the risk of serious injury or death resulting from side airbag deployment, observe the following precautions:

• Always wear your seat belt to help keep occupants properly positioned.
• Do not allow passengers to lean their heads or bodies against the door, place their hands on the door, extend their hands out of the window, or place objects between the doors and seats.
• Hold the steering wheel at the 9 o'clock and 3 o'clock positions to minimize the risk of injury to the hands and arms.
• Do not use any seat covers or accessories. They may reduce or prevent the effectiveness of the system.
• Do not place any objects on top of the airbag or between the airbag and yourself. Also, do not attach any objects around the area where the airbag inflates, such as the door, side window glass, front and rear pillars.
• Do not place any objects between the door and seat. They may become dangerous projectiles if the side airbag deploys.
• Do not install any accessories on or near the side airbag.
• Do not place any objects between the side airbag label and the seat cushion. They could cause injury if the vehicle is involved in a crash severe enough to deploy the airbags.
• Do not apply pressure to the doors when the ignition switch is in the ON position, as this may cause the side airbags to deploy.
• If the seat or seat cover is damaged, have the vehicle inspected and repaired by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
