Repair Procedures

DEPOSIT

  1. Remove the front wheel and tire assembly (A) from the hub.

    Tightening torque: 88.2 - 108 N·m

  2. Loosen the staked hub nut (A).

    Tightening torque: 294.2 ~ 314 N·m N·m (30.0 ~ 32.0 kgf·m, 217.0 ~ 231.5 ft-lbf)

  3. Disconnect the ball joint from the steering knuckle arm.
    1. Remove the cotter pin (A).
    2. Loosen the nut and disconnect the ball joint (B).

    Tightening torque: 34.3 to 44 N·m

  4. Loosen the bolt and nut after removing the pin (A).

    Tightening torque: 98.1 ~ 118 N·m

  5. Disconnect the lower arm from the joint using SST (09568-4R100).
    1. Insert the bracket bolt (A) into the bolt hole.
    2. Install the support housing (B) on the front axle.
    3. Tighten the bolt (C).
  6. Disconnect the drive shaft (A) from the front hub assembly.
  7. Loosen the inner shaft bolts, then remove the drive shaft. [Applies only to unequal type D side]

    Tightening torque: 49.0 ~ 69 N·m

  8. Remove the drive shaft D (A) from the DCT transaxle. [Applies to unequal type D side]
  9. Remove the propeller shaft D (A) from the transfer case. [Applicable to D-type unequal length shaft]
  10. Insert a pry bar between the transaxle case and the gasket, and separate the drive shaft from the transaxle case. [Applicable to the same drive shaft on D side / drive shaft full side G]
    • Use the pry bar carefully to avoid damaging the differential and gasket.
    • Do not insert the pry bar too far, as this may damage the oil seal.
    • Do not pull the propeller shaft too hard, as this may separate the components in the joint from the connection, which may tear the boot or damage the bearing.
    • To prevent contamination, plug the transaxle opening with a seal cap.
    • Hold the drive shaft correctly.
    • Replace the snap ring every time the shaft is removed from the transaxle case.
  11. To install, perform the removal procedure in reverse order.
  12. Check the front alignment. (Refer to Suspension System - "Front Wheel Alignment")
