Integrated Gateway and Power Management Module (IGPM) The Integrated Gateway and Power Management Module (IGPM) is a module with the function of a conventional junction block and some additional functions. It controls various components, including lighting, using CAN communication and IPS (Intelligent Power Switch, replacing the functions of fuses and relays) or ARISU.
IPS stands for Intelligent Power Switch, which uses semiconductor technology to replace the role of conventional fuses and relays. (The IPS chip has two functions: 1) controls high-current components; 2) overcurrent protection for components.)
IGPM control input
  1. Switch Signal Input
    1. Passenger Door Switch, Driver Seat Belt Switch, Rear Left Door Switch, Rear Right Door Switch, SWITCH 1 ALL 2 switches, Brake Fluid Sensor, Trunk Opener Switch, Trunk Handle Switch, With Emergency Switch, Low Beam Switch, Hood Switch, Left Forward/Reverse Signal Switch, Right Forward/Reverse Signal Switch, Parking Brake Switch, Driver Door Lock/Unlock Control Status, Passenger Door Lock/Unlock Control Status, Rear Left Door Lock/Unlock Status, Rear Right Door Lock/Unlock Status, Driver Door Switch, Driver Door Lock Switch, Driver Door Key Unlock Switch, Driver Door Window Lock Switch, Driver Door Window Unlock Switch
    2. IPS&ARISU Left low beam headlight, Right low beam, Left high beam, Right high beam, Room lamp, Outermost left rear combination lamp, Outermost right rear combination lamp, Left front/rear turn signal feedback, Front/rear right turn signals, Body resistance cut-off control, Left front static cornering lamp, Right front static cornering lamp
    3. RELAY CONTROL Trunk lid relay, Door lock/unlock relay, Power window wake-up relay
  2. IGPM protection
    1. PCL (Programmable Current Limiter) Functions
      • PCL replaces the cable terminal block protection function.
      • Operation: If the lamp current exceeds the standard level, cut off power to protect the lamp.
      • Lamp turn-off time: 300 ms or less.
      • Applicable components: All indicator components controlled by IGPM
      • Displays a fault code according to the fault detection conditions.
    2. OCL (Open Circuit Current Limit)
      • OCL detects the open state of the lamp and notifies the user.
      • Operation: Sense the lamp current and, if it is below the standard level, replace the lamp.
      • Applicable components: 4 flashes
      • Displays a fault code according to the fault detection conditions.
  3. IGPM fail-safe function
    1. When the MCU fails (inoperative due to external physical impact or electric shock), if ALL2 and the low beam switch are activated, the IGPM forcibly turns on the low beams and exterior/interior lighting to ensure full driver safety.
    2. If data transmission/reception fails due to a faulty CAN communication line connected to the IGPM module (open high or low line, short to BAT high/low, short to GND high/low), the interior and exterior low beam headlights and rear red lights illuminate if IGN2 is on and the headlight switch is in the low position.
  4. Battery Saver Auto Shut-Off System
    1. Description: Automatically cuts power supply to components to reduce unnecessary dark current depending on vehicle status.
    2. The IGPM has 3 modes: "Normal Mode", "Sleep Mode", and "Power Off Mode". Automatic dark current cut-off operates in "Sleep Mode".
      • - Standby condition: ALL OFF, compatible switch input state for a set time, CAN network inactive.
      • - Standby mode exit condition: switch input, CAN network active, CLE ON, POWER.
      • - Deactivation condition: During the cut-off function, automatic dark current; the timer for cutting power load of the power supply expires.
      • Normal mode: IGPM function is active in normal mode.
      • Sleep mode: A low power consumption mode activated to reduce IGPM power consumption. The automatic dark current cut-off function is activated.
      • Power off mode: Power to the MCU and circuit is cut to minimize electricity consumption. Operation stops.
    3. Explanation - Automatic dark current cut-off
Before Delivery to Customer Fuse switch OFF.
      • All doors closed and locked by RKE or constant switch state (automatic dark current cut-off scenario starts).
      • 5 minutes after entering "Sleep" mode.
      • IGPM off (IGPM dark current: 200 μA) and turn off the lamp/body charge/wake-up/immobilizer power.

After Delivery to Customer Fuse switch ON.
      • Status: All doors closed and constant power off: anti-theft alarm status OFF (automatic dark current cut-off scenario starts).
      • Then the standby state lasts 20 minutes.
      • IGPM off (IGPM dark current: 200 μA) and cut power to the fire load.
      • In case of RKE door lock: Anti-theft alarm status = ON, trunk lid switch = CLOSED (automatic dark current cut-off scenario starts).
      • After sleep mode, 35~65 s (other unit standby time: 30~60 s + IGPM standby 5 min).
      • IGPM off (IGPM dark current: 200 μA) and turn off the charge indicator.
    4. Possible problems with fuse switch setting errors: If the fuse is set to OFF (before delivery to the customer) by the customer or a technician and the automatic dark current cut-off function operates, the following problems may occur.
      Symptom Related Parts
      • Door lock/unlock and tailgate opening are not activated by RKE. (Alarm of each module is not activated.)
      BCM
      • Digital clock is reset. (Memory is reset.)
      DIGITAL CLOCK
      • Audio setting values (frequency setting, volume) are reset. (Memory is reset.)
      Audio

      * If the fuse is turned OFF (before delivery to the customer) and ON, BCM power, digital clock and audio are cut off.

Repair Procedures

Fuse Inspection

  1. Make sure the fuse holders are secure and all fuses are firmly held by the clips.
  2. Make sure that each fuse circuit has the correct fuse rating.
  3. Check the fuses for damage.

Diagnosis with GDS

  1. In the body electrical system, a fault can be quickly diagnosed using the Global Diagnostic System (GDS). The GDS provides the following information.
    1. Self-diagnosis: checks for malfunctions and the number of codes (DTC)
    2. Current data: checking the input/output status of the system
    3. Operation check: checks the operating conditions of the system
    4. Additional function: controls other functions, including additional system setup and zero point adjustment
  2. Select "Vehicle Model" and "Smart Junction Box (SJB)" to check the vehicle with the tester.
  3. Select the "Current Data" menu to check the current status of inputs and outputs.
  4. To control the input force of the module to be controlled, select the "Operation Check" option.
  5. To change a user setting, select "User Setting".

DEPOSIT

  1. Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.
  2. Remove the lower airbag panel. (Refer to Body - "Lower Instrument Panel")
  3. Disconnect the connectors (A) from the side fuse of the SJB.
  4. Remove the SJB (A) after loosening the mounting nuts.
  5. Disconnect the connectors on the rear panel of the SJB.

REMEDY

  1. Install the Power Management Module and Integrated Gateway (SJB).
  2. Install the emergency pad lower panel.
  3. Connect the negative (-) battery terminal.
  4. Make sure the entire system operates properly.
