- Never move the shift lever out of P (Park) or N (Neutral) into another position while the accelerator pedal is depressed.
- Never shift the shift lever into P (Park) while the vehicle is moving. Wait until the vehicle has come to a complete stop before shifting into R (Reverse) or D (Drive).
- Do not shift the shift lever to N (Neutral) while driving. Failure to follow this instruction may result in an accident due to loss of engine braking and damage to the transmission.
- Do not rest your foot on the brake pedal while driving. Keeping pressure on the brake pedal, even light pressure, may cause overheating, excessive wear, and even brake failure.
- In Sport mode, brake before downshifting. If you do not brake, you will not be able to downshift unless the engine tachometer is within the permitted range.
- Always apply the parking brake when leaving the vehicle. Do not rely solely on shifting to P (Park) to immobilize the vehicle.
- Drive carefully on slippery surfaces. Be especially careful when braking, accelerating, or shifting. On slippery surfaces, a sudden change in vehicle speed may cause a crash due to loss of traction at the driving wheels and loss of vehicle control.
- For optimum performance and fuel economy, avoid rapid acceleration and sudden release of the accelerator pedal.
WARNING
To reduce the risk of SERIOUS INJURY or DEATH:
- ALWAYS wear your seat belt. In a crash, an unbelted passenger is at greater risk of serious injury or death than a properly restrained passenger.
- Avoid driving too fast when entering or going through curves.
- Avoid sudden steering maneuvers, such as sharp lane changes or quick, sharp turns.
- The risk of rollover increases sharply if you lose control of your vehicle at high speed.
- Loss of control often occurs when two or more wheels leave the road and the driver oversteers in an attempt to return the vehicle to the road.
- If your vehicle leaves the road, do not steer sharply. Instead, brake gently before returning the vehicle to the road.
- HYUNDAI recommends observing speed limits.
Information — Sport Mode Mechanism
Use the Sport mode feature for maximum acceleration. Fully depress the accelerator pedal. The automatic transmission downshifts depending on engine speed.
