Automatic Transmission Operation
In this manual: Driving Your Vehicle
~1min read
The automatic transmission has 6 forward speeds and one reverse.
The gear is selected automatically in the D (Drive) position.
WARNING
To reduce the risk of serious injury or death:
- ALWAYS check that there are no people near the vehicle, especially children, before shifting the shift lever into D (Drive) or R (Reverse).
- Before leaving the driver's seat, make sure the shift lever is in P (Park), apply the parking brake, and turn the ignition to the LOCK/OFF position. Failure to follow this precaution may cause sudden and unexpected vehicle movement.
- Do not use sudden engine braking (downshifting) on slippery roads. The vehicle may skid and cause an accident.
The shift position indicator in the instrument cluster shows the position of the shift lever when the ignition is in the ON position.
