3-point seat belt

~2min read

To fasten the seat belt:

Pull it out of the retractor and insert the metal tongue (1) into the buckle (2). A click is heard when the tongue engages the buckle.

The length of the seat belt is adjusted automatically once you have manually adjusted the lap belt so that it fits snugly against your hips.

If you lean forward slowly, the belt will extend and follow your movement. In the event of a collision or sudden braking, the belt locks. It also locks if you lean forward too quickly.

NOTICE

If you cannot pull out enough belt by pulling gently on it, pull the seat belt firmly, then release it. You can then extend it without any problems.

WARNING

Improperly worn seat belts may increase the risk of serious injury in the event of an accident. Observe the following precautions when adjusting the seat belt:

  • Position the lap portion of the seat belt as low as possible on the hips, not on the waist, for a comfortable fit. This allows the belt to pass over your pelvic bones, which are very strong, to absorb the impact and reduce the risk of internal injury.
  • Place one hand under the diagonal portion of the belt and the other above it, as shown in the illustration.
  • Always set the diagonal belt anchor to the correct height in the locked position.
  • Never place the diagonal portion of the belt across your neck or face.

Height Adjustment

You can adjust the height of the seat belt anchor point to one of four available positions for maximum comfort and safety.

The diagonal portion of the belt must be adjusted so that it crosses the chest and passes over the middle of the shoulder on the door side, not across the neck.

Front Seat

To adjust the height of the seat belt anchor, raise or lower the anchor to the desired position.

To raise the anchor, pull it up (1). To lower it, press it down (3) while holding the height adjustment button (2). Release the button to lock the anchor in position. Try moving the anchor to make sure it is securely locked.

To unfasten the seat belt:

Press the release button (1) on the buckle. When disconnecting, the seat belt should retract automatically into the retractor. If this does not happen, check that the belt is not twisted and try again.
