TPMS Inspection Method

Inspection

  1. Types of Warning Lights
    • Remains on without flashing: Tire Pressure Low Indicator
    • Flashes continuously at 0.5 second intervals: Indicator initial state
    • Instrument cluster flashes for 1 minute at 1 second intervals, then stays on: DTC indicator
  2. (1) Check the indicator status.
    • Check the vehicle lighting condition.
    • Check whether the lighting condition is caused by low tire pressure.
      Symptom: Stays on without flashing
  3. (2) Check the indicator status.
    • Check the vehicle lighting condition.
    • Check whether the lamp condition is caused by the initial state of the TPMS receiver (empty mode).
Symptom: Flashes continuously at 0.5 second intervals.
  4. (3) Check the indicator status.
    • Check the vehicle lighting condition.
    • Check whether the indicator condition is caused by a DTC (TPMS sensor and TPMS receiver malfunction). Symptom: Instrument cluster flashes for 1 minute at 1 second intervals, then illuminates.
  5. Tire Pressure Warning Lamp Cold: Vehicle has been stopped for more than 60 minutes. → 0.07 kgf/cm² (1.0 psi) additional inflation beyond specified tire pressure. Hot: Drive the vehicle. → 0.28 kgf/cm² (4.0 psi) additional inflation beyond specified tire pressure.
  6. Check the initial state indicator
    Q. TPMS warning lamp (1) Check the status of the TPMS warning lamp. (2) Flashes continuously at 0.5 second intervals. → Initial state indicator
    B. Items to check when the warning lamp flashes (1). Enter the sensor ID. (See TPMS Receiver – Repair Procedures) (2). Enter the vehicle name. (See TPMS Receiver – Repair Procedures) (3). Enter the VIN. (See TPMS Receiver – Repair Procedures) (4). Change the TPMS ECU mode (to standard mode).
