Filling and Bleeding

  1. Make sure the engine and radiator are cold to the touch.
  2. Remove the reserve tank cap (A).
  3. Remove the engine undercover. (Refer to Engine and Transaxle Assembly - "Engine Undercover")
  4. Loosen the drain plug (A) and drain the coolant.
  5. Tighten the radiator drain plug securely.
  6. After draining the engine coolant from the reservoir, clean the reservoir.
  7. Fill the radiator with water through the radiator cap and tighten the cap.
  8. Start the engine and allow it to warm up to normal operating temperature. Wait until the cooling fans activate several times. Increase engine speed to remove trapped air. Stop the engine.
  9. Wait until the engine has cooled down.
  10. Repeat steps 1 through 9 until drained water is no longer coming out.
  11. Slowly fill with a mixture of coolant and water (55 ~ 60%) (except North America, Europe and China: 45 ~ 50%) through the radiator cap. Squeeze the upper/lower radiator hoses to help bleed air.
  12. Run the engine until the coolant begins to circulate. When the cooling fan operates and the coolant circulates, fill the coolant through the radiator cap.
  13. Repeat step 12 until the cooling fan has turned 3 to 5 times and sufficient air has been purged from the cooling system.
  14. Install the radiator cap and fill the reservoir with coolant up to the "MAX" line.
  15. Run the vehicle at idle while the cooling fan operates 2 to 3 times.
  16. Stop the engine and wait until the coolant is cold.
  17. Repeat steps 11 through 16 until the coolant level no longer drops, then bleed air from the cooling system.Coolant capacity 6.9 L (1.82 US gal, 7.29 US qt, 6.06 liters)
