Actions to take in an emergency

Towing Services

~1min read

If emergency towing is required, we recommend that you call an authorized HYUNDAI dealer or a professional towing service.

Proper lifting and towing procedures must be followed to avoid damaging the vehicle. The use of a wheel dolly or a flatbed trailer is recommended.

The vehicle may be towed with the rear wheels on the ground (without a dolly) and the front wheels raised.

If one of the front wheels is damaged or one of the suspension components is damaged, or if the vehicle is towed with the front wheels on the ground, a wheel dolly must be positioned under the front wheels.

When towing with a professional towing service, always lift the front of the vehicle (not the rear) when using a wheel dolly. 4x4 vehicles should be towed with all four wheels lifted off the ground using a dolly or on a flatbed trailer.

WARNING

A 4x4 vehicle must never be towed with the wheels on the ground. Failure to follow this instruction may seriously damage the transmission or the 4WD system.

WARNING

  • To avoid damaging the vehicle, do not tow it with the front wheels on the ground.
  • Do not tow the vehicle using sling equipment. Use a wheel dolly or flatbed trailer.

WARNING

If your vehicle is equipped with a rollover sensor, turn the ignition switch to the LOCK/OFF or ACC position during towing. The side airbags and curtain airbags may deploy if the sensor detects a rollover.

For emergency towing without a wheel dolly:

1. Turn the ignition key to the ACC position.

2. Shift the gear shift lever to the N (Neutral) position.

3. Apply the parking brake.

WARNING

If the shift lever is not in the N (Neutral) position, the transmission may be internally damaged.
