Immobilizer System (if equipped)
The immobilizer system protects your vehicle from theft. If the key (or any other device) is incorrectly coded, the fuel supply to the engine is cut off. When the ignition switch is in the ON position, the immobilizer system indicator light should come on briefly and then go off. If the light flashes, it means the system does not recognize the key coding.
Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK/OFF position, then back to the ON position.
The system may not recognize your key if another immobilizer key or a metal object (such as a key ring) is near the key. Metal may prevent the vehicle from starting by blocking the transponder signal.
If the system does not recognize your key regularly, we recommend contacting an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
Do not attempt to modify this system or add other devices to it. Electrical problems caused by such actions may render your vehicle unusable.
WARNING
To prevent theft of your vehicle, do not leave spare keys inside. The immobilizer system code is unique to each user and must be kept confidential.
NOTICE
The smart key transponder is an integral part of the immobilizer system. It is designed to provide many years of trouble-free service, but it is best to protect it from moisture and static electricity, and handle it carefully to avoid damage.
