Tire Pressure Monitoring System
WARNING
Excessive or insufficient tire pressure can reduce tire life, affect vehicle handling, and cause sudden tire failure, which may lead to loss of vehicle control and an accident.
Each tire (including the spare tire, if provided) should be checked monthly when cold and inflated to the pressure recommended by the manufacturer on the vehicle placard or tire inflation pressure label. (If the tires you are using are a different size than the size indicated on the vehicle placard or tire inflation pressure label, you must determine the correct tire pressure for those tires.)
To improve your safety, your vehicle is equipped with a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) that illuminates a warning light when one or more of your tires are significantly under-inflated. Therefore, when this light illuminates, you should stop and check your tires as soon as possible, and inflate them to the proper pressure. Driving on significantly under-inflated tires causes the tire to overheat and can lead to tire failure. Correcting under-inflation also improves fuel economy and tire tread life, and may improve vehicle handling and braking.
Please note that the TPMS does not replace proper tire maintenance, and it is the driver's responsibility to maintain correct tire pressure, even if under-inflation has not reached the level to trigger the low tire pressure warning light.
Your vehicle is also equipped with a TPMS malfunction indicator to alert you when the system is not functioning properly. This indicator is combined with the low tire pressure warning light. When the system detects a malfunction, the warning light flashes for about one minute and then remains steadily illuminated. While the malfunction persists, this sequence will repeat each time the vehicle is started. When the malfunction indicator is illuminated, the system may not detect or signal low tire pressure.
There are several reasons that may cause a TPMS malfunction, including installation of replacement tires/wheels or equivalent on the vehicle.
Always check the TPMS malfunction indicator after replacing one or more tires or wheels on your vehicle to make sure that the replacement tires/wheels or equivalent do not interfere with proper system operation.
NOTICE
In the cases listed below, we recommend that you have your vehicle system checked by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
1. The low tire pressure warning light/TPMS malfunction light does not illuminate for three seconds when the Start/Stop button is set to the ON position or the engine is running.
2. The TPMS malfunction indicator remains illuminated after flashing for approximately 1 minute.
3. The low tire pressure indicator continues to illuminate.
