Oil Pressure Warning Light

~1min read

This warning light illuminates in the following cases:

  • When the ignition switch or Engine Start/Stop button is in the ON position.
    - Stays on until the engine is started.
  • When the oil pressure is low.

When the oil pressure is low:

1. Carefully drive to the nearest safe place and park the vehicle.

2. Stop the engine and check the engine oil level (refer to "Engine Oil" in chapter 7 for more information). If the oil level is low, add some oil.

If the warning light stays on after adding oil, or if there is no oil, we recommend having the vehicle checked by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer as soon as possible.

NOTE: Oil Pressure Warning Light

  • If you do not stop the engine as soon as the oil pressure warning light comes on, the engine may be seriously damaged.
  • If the warning light remains on while the engine is running, it may indicate that the engine is seriously damaged or has a serious malfunction. In this case:

1. Stop the vehicle as soon as it is safe to do so.

2. Stop the engine and check the engine oil level. If the oil level is low, add engine oil to the required level.

3. Restart the engine. If the warning light remains on after starting the engine, stop the engine immediately. In this case, we recommend having the vehicle checked by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
