Automatic Defogging System

The automatic defog function helps reduce the likelihood of fogging on the inside surface of the windshield by automatically detecting moisture inside the windshield.

The automatic anti-fog system operates when the heater or air conditioner is on.

Information

The automatic defog system may not operate properly if the outside air temperature is below 14°F (-10°C).

When the automatic anti-fog system is operating, the indicator illuminates.

If high humidity is detected in the vehicle, the automatic defog system will turn on. The following steps will be performed automatically:

Step 1) The air conditioner turns on.
Step 2) The air intake control switches to fresh air mode.
Step 3) The mode changes to defrost to direct airflow to the windshield.
Step 4) The fan speed is set to MAX.

If the air conditioner is turned off or recirculation mode is selected manually while the Automatic Defogging System is on, the Automatic Defogging System indicator will flash 3 times to signal that manual control has been cancelled.

Turning the Automatic Defogging System On and Off

Climate Control System

Press and hold the front windshield heater button for 3 seconds when the engine is started/stopped and the button is in the ON position. When the Automatic Defogging System is turned off, the ADS OFF symbol will flash 3 times and ADS OFF will appear on the climate control information screen.

When the Automatic Defogging System is on, the ADS OFF symbol flashes 6 times with no signal.

Infotainment System

The Automatic Defogging System can be turned on and off by selecting Settings — Vehicle Settings — Climate — Defog/Defrost Options — Automatic Defogging from the infotainment system screen. For details, refer to the separate infotainment system manual.

Information

• When the air conditioner is turned on by the Automatic Defogging System, if you try to turn off the air conditioner, the indicator will flash 3 times and the air conditioner will not turn off.
• To maintain the effectiveness of the Automatic Defogging System, do not select recirculation mode while the system is operating.
• While the Automatic Defogging System is operating, fan speed adjustment, temperature adjustment, and air intake control selection are disabled.

NOTICE

Do not remove the sensor cover located at the top of the windshield.
