When the electronic child-protector lock button is pressed and the indicator light on the button is on, the rear doors cannot be opened from inside the vehicle.
- The rear door window cannot be opened or closed while the electronic child-protector lock button is in the LOCK position (indicator light on). For more details, refer to "Windows" in this chapter.
- The electronic child-protector lock does not turn on automatically if the driver presses the electronic child-protector lock button.
- If 3 minutes have passed after the ENGINE START/STOP button is pressed to OFF or ACC, the indicator light on the button turns off and the driver cannot turn off the electronic child-protector lock by pressing the button. To turn off the function, press the ENGINE START/STOP button to ON, then press the electronic child-protector lock button.
- If power is restored after the battery is removed or discharged while the electronic child-protector lock button is in the LOCK position, press the button again to match the indicator light status on the electronic child-protector lock button with the actual status of the electronic child-protector lock function.
- If the airbag is deployed when the child safety lock switch is in the LOCK position (indicator on), the rear doors unlock automatically.
- Vehicles equipped with the electronic child safety lock do not have a manual child safety lock.
WARNING
If children accidentally open a rear door while the vehicle is moving, they may fall out of the vehicle. The electronic child safety lock must always be used whenever children are in the vehicle.
NOTICE
Child Safety Lock Malfunction / Child Safety Lock Error
If the electronic child safety lock does not operate even when the switch is pressed, a message will appear and a warning sound will be heard. If this occurs, have the vehicle inspected by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
Safe Exit Assist (if equipped with electronic child safety lock)
The Safe Exit Assist system helps prevent a rear seat passenger from opening a rear door. When an approaching vehicle from behind is detected after the vehicle has stopped, the rear doors will not unlock, even when the driver attempts to unlock the rear doors using the electronic child safety lock switch.
