Precautions When Using the Parking Assist System
The Parking Assist System may not sound the buzzer consistently, depending on the speed and shape of the detected objects.
• The Parking Assist System may malfunction if the bumper mounting height is changed, the sensor position is altered, or the sensor is damaged. Any equipment or accessories not installed by the factory may interfere with sensor operation.
• The sensor may not detect objects located less than 40 cm (15 in.) from it, or may inaccurately determine the distance to an obstacle. Be careful.
• If the sensor is frozen or covered with snow, dirt or water, it may not operate until the contamination is removed with a soft cloth.
• Do not press on the sensor, scratch it or subject it to impacts. This may damage the sensor.
NOTE
This system can only detect obstacles within the detection range of the sensors at their installed locations. It cannot detect objects where no sensors are installed. In addition, small objects or objects with small thickness, such as poles, or objects located between the sensors may not be detected by the system.
Always check the area behind the vehicle when driving in reverse.
Be sure to inform other drivers who will operate this vehicle and who may not be familiar with this system about its functions and limitations.
WARNING
Exercise extra caution when driving the vehicle in close proximity to objects on the road, particularly pedestrians, especially children.
Be aware that some objects may not be detected by the sensors depending on conditions that limit sensor effectiveness, including distance to the objects, their size, or the material they are made of. Always visually check that there are no obstacles before moving the vehicle in any direction.
