System Operation
Ventilation
1. Set the mode control knob to the
.
2. Set the air intake control to the fresh air position.
3. Set the temperature control knob as desired.
4. Set the blower speed as desired.
Heating
1. Set the mode control knob to the
.
2. Set the air intake control to the fresh air position.
3. Set the temperature control knob as desired.
4. Set the blower speed as desired.
5. If heating with reduced humidity is required, turn on the air conditioner (if equipped).
• If the windshield fogs up, set the mode control knob to the
or
.
• To prevent dust or unpleasant odors from entering the cabin through the ventilation system, temporarily set the air intake control to the recirculation position.
Be sure to return the control to the fresh air position once the source of contamination is behind you, so that fresh air enters the vehicle. This helps maintain driver alertness and comfortable driving conditions.
• Air for the heating and air conditioning system is drawn in through the grille located directly in front of the windshield. Make sure it is not blocked by leaves, snow, ice, or other foreign objects.
• To prevent fogging of the inside of the windshield, set the air intake control to the fresh air position. The blower speed and temperature control knobs can be set as desired.
Air Conditioning
All air conditioners installed on HYUNDAI vehicles are filled with R-134a refrigerant, which is environmentally friendly.
1. Start the engine. Press the air conditioner switch.
2. Set the mode control knob to the position.
3. Set the air intake control to the recirculation position.
4. Adjust the blower speed control and the temperature control knob to achieve the most comfortable conditions in the cabin.
• When maximum cooling is desired, turn the temperature control knob to the far left position (MAX A/C), then set the blower speed to maximum.
NOTE
• When using the air conditioner, closely monitor the engine coolant temperature gauge when driving uphill or in heavy traffic in hot weather. Air conditioner operation may cause the engine to overheat. If the engine coolant temperature gauge indicates overheating, leave the blower on but turn off the air conditioner.
• With the windows open and high ambient humidity, air conditioner operation may cause water droplets to form inside the vehicle. Since excess moisture can lead to electrical system failure, operate the air conditioner only with the windows closed.
• If the vehicle has been parked in direct sunlight in hot weather, open the windows briefly to let hot air out of the cabin.
• To help reduce fogging of the inside of the glass in rainy or humid weather, reduce the humidity in the cabin by turning on the air conditioner.
• During air conditioner operation, a slight change in engine speed may be noticed depending on whether the A/C compressor is engaged or disengaged. This is normal.
• Run the air conditioner for at least a few minutes once a month to keep its performance at an optimal level.
• During air conditioner operation, clear water may be seen dripping (or even flowing) onto the ground on the passenger side. This is normal.
• Operating the air conditioner in recirculation mode provides maximum cooling capacity, but prolonged operation in this mode may cause the air in the cabin to become stale.
• During cooling, an airflow with water condensate may appear, which is caused by humid air entering the system at high cooling intensity. This is a normal operating condition of the system.
• If the air conditioner is set to excessive cooling, the difference between the outside air temperature and the temperature of the air blown onto the windshield may cause moisture to form on the outer surface of the windshield, reducing visibility. In this case, set the mode control knob to the position
and reduce the blower speed.
