Driving Your Vehicle

Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS)

~1min read

WARNING

The Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) or Electronic Stability Control (ESC) cannot prevent accidents resulting from careless, reckless, or improper driving maneuvers. Although ABS and ESC improve vehicle control during emergency braking, always maintain a safe distance between your vehicle and objects ahead of you. Always reduce vehicle speed under extreme road conditions. Stopping distance for vehicles equipped with ABS or ESC may be longer than for vehicles without these systems on the road conditions described below. Drive at reduced speed in the following cases:

  • Rough, gravel, or snow-covered roads.
  • Roads with a damaged surface or uneven height.
  • Snow chains are installed on your vehicle.

Do not test the safety functions of a vehicle equipped with ABS or ESC at high speed or while cornering. This may endanger your safety or the safety of others.

ABS is an electronic brake system that helps prevent skidding during braking. The ABS allows the driver to steer and brake at the same time.
