Service Adjustment Procedure

Fluid Level Check

ATF level check is normally not required during scheduled maintenance. If an oil leak is detected, perform the oil level check procedure after repair is completed.
When checking the fluid level, make sure that dust, foreign matter, etc. does not enter through the filler hole.
  1. Remove the eye bolt (A).

    Eye bolt tightening torque: 2.9 ~ 4.9 N·m

Always replace the eye bolt gasket. Use a new gasket each time the eye bolt is loosened.
  2. Add 700 cc of ATF SP-IV through the ATF filler hole.
  3. Start the engine. (Do not depress the brake and accelerator pedals at the same time.)
  4. Make sure the A/T oil temperature sensor temperature is 50 ~ 60 °C using GDS.
  5. Slowly move the selector lever from the "P" position to the "D" position, then from "D" to "P", and repeat once more at idle.
Hold at each gear position for more than 2 seconds.
  6. Raise the vehicle, then remove the oil level plug (A) from the valve body cover.
At this time, the vehicle must be on level ground.
  7. If the oil flows from the drain plug in a thin, steady stream, the oil level is normal. Then complete the procedure and tighten the oil plug.
Method for checking the fluid level (overfilled or underfilled)
    • Overfilled: The volume of drained fluid exceeds 900 cc within two minutes. {50–60 °C}
    • Malfunction: No drain flow.
If there is no damage to the A/T, oil cooler, oil cooler hose, transmission case, and valve body mounting bolts are properly tightened, ATF should drain after performing steps 1 through 7 above. If no oil drips after performing steps 1 through 7, inspect the automatic transmission assembly.
Replace the gasket before reinstalling the oil level plug.

Oil level plug tightening torque: Tighten the plug

  8. Lower the vehicle using a hoist and tighten the eye bolt.

Replacement

The ATF of the 6-speed automatic transaxle is not replaceable under normal conditions. However, if the vehicle is operated under severe conditions or for commercial purposes, replace the ATF every 60,000 miles for severe use. Severe use is defined as
  • Driving on rough roads (bumpy, gravel, snow, dirt, etc.)
  • Driving on mountain roads, uphill/downhill
  • Repeated short-distance driving
  • More than 50% of operation in heavy city traffic during hot weather above 32 °C.
  • Police, taxi, commercial-type operation, or towing a trailer, etc.
  1. Remove the drain plug (A) and reinstall it after completely draining the ATF.
    Drain plug tightening torque: 38.2 ~ 48 N·m
Replace the gasket before reinstalling the drain plug.
  2. Fill with approximately 5 liters of oil.
  3. Check the fluid level. (Refer to Hydraulic System - "Fluid")
