Inspection

  1. Ignition switch ON
  2. Apply air at varying temperatures to the in-vehicle sensor aspirator inlet. Measure the sensor resistance between terminals 1 and 2.
    1. Sensor Ground 2. Interior sensor signal

    Specification
Temperature [°C(°F)] Resistance between terminals 1 and 2 (kΩ)
    -20(-4) 290,21
    -10(14) 165,6
    0 (32) 97,83
    10(50) 59,67
    20(68) 37,48
    30(86) 24.17
    40(104) 15,98
    50(122) 10,81

The in-vehicle sensor is a negative temperature coefficient (NTC) thermistor, whose resistance increases at lower temperatures and decreases at higher temperatures.

Replacement

  1. Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.
  2. Remove the right center ventilation grille, then disconnect the in-vehicle sensor connector (A).
  3. Remove the in-vehicle sensor (B) from the center ventilation grille.
  4. Install in the reverse order of removal.
