If the Engine Stalls While Driving
- • Gradually reduce speed while keeping the vehicle in a straight line. Carefully move off the road to a safe location.
- • Turn on the hazard warning flasher.
- • Try to restart the engine. If your vehicle does not start, contact an authorized HYUNDAI dealer or seek other qualified assistance.
If the Engine Stalls at an Intersection or Crossing
If the engine stalls at an intersection or crossing, if it is safe, shift the transmission to N (Neutral), and then push the vehicle to a safe location.
If a Tire Goes Flat While Driving
If a tire goes flat while driving:
- • Take your foot off the accelerator pedal and allow the vehicle to slow down while moving straight ahead. Do not brake immediately or attempt to leave the roadway, as this may cause loss of vehicle control, resulting in a collision. When the vehicle has slowed to a safe speed, brake carefully and steer off the road. Move as far off the road as possible and park on a firm, level surface. If you are on a divided highway, do not stop in the median area between the two traffic lanes.
- • Once the vehicle has stopped, press the hazard warning flasher button, shift the transmission into P (Park), apply the parking brake, and turn the ignition key to the LOCK/OFF position.
- • Ask all passengers to leave the vehicle. Make sure they all exit on the side of the vehicle away from traffic.
- • When replacing a flat tire, follow the instructions provided later in this chapter.
