If the rear corner radar is blocked or covered, or when the rear bumper behind the rear corner radar or sensor is covered with foreign material such as snow, rain, or dirt, or when a trailer or towing hitch is installed, detection performance may decrease and Safe Exit Warning may be temporarily limited or disabled.
The Blind-Spot Safety System is deactivated. The "Radar Blocked" warning message may appear on the instrument cluster.
The system operates normally when such foreign material, trailer, or carrier is removed and the engine is restarted.
If the system does not operate normally after anything covering or blocking the sensors is removed, have the vehicle inspected by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
WARNING
- Safe Exit Warning may not operate properly even if there is no warning message or warning light on the instrument cluster.
- Safe Exit Warning may not operate properly in open areas where no objects are detected (for example, an empty parking lot), or when the sensors are blocked immediately after starting the engine.
- Turn off Safe Exit Warning when towing a trailer or using a towing hitch accessory.
Safe Exit Warning Limitations
Safe Exit Warning may not operate normally or may activate unexpectedly if:
- Trees or grass near your vehicle are overgrown.
- The road is wet.
- The approaching vehicle is moving very fast or very slowly.
Information
For more information on rear corner radar limitations, refer to "Blind-Spot Collision Warning (BCW)" or "Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA)" in this chapter.
WARNING
- Safe Exit Warning may not operate properly if there is interference from strong electromagnetic waves.
- Safe Exit Assist may not operate for 3 seconds immediately after the vehicle is started or when the rear corner radars are initializing.
- Safe Exit Assist may not operate properly even after the engine has been restarted if the sensors are blocked or there is a problem with the function.
