Driving Your Vehicle

Loading Information Label

~2min read

The label is located on the driver's side door pillar. It shows the original tire size, the recommended cold tire inflation pressure for your vehicle, the number of persons that may be carried in your vehicle, and the vehicle capacity weight.

Passengers and Cargo - Maximum Load

5 persons: 926 lb (420 kg)

The total weight of passengers and cargo must never exceed the maximum load limit shown on the Vehicle Load Information Label. Note that when towing a trailer, the total weight must include the tongue load.

Seating Capacity

Total: 5 persons (front seat: 2 persons, rear seat: 3 persons)

The seating capacity is the maximum number of passengers, including the driver, that your vehicle can carry. However, the number of seating positions may be reduced depending on the weight of all passengers and the weight of cargo or trailer towed. Do not overload the vehicle, because there is a limit to the total weight or load, including passengers and cargo, that the vehicle can carry.

Towing Capacity

With braked trailer: 2000 lb (907 kg)

Towing capacity is the maximum trailer weight, including the weight of cargo, that your vehicle can tow.

Load Capacity

The load capacity of your vehicle increases or decreases depending on the weight, number of passengers, and tongue load if your vehicle is equipped with a trailer hitch.

Steps to Determine Correct Load Limit

1. Locate the statement "The combined weight of occupants and cargo should never exceed XXX kg or XXX lbs" on your vehicle's certification label.

2. Determine the combined weight of the driver and passengers that will be riding in your vehicle.

3. Subtract the combined weight of the driver and passengers from XXX kg or XXX lbs.

4. The resulting figure is the available cargo and luggage load capacity. For example, if the "XXX" figure is 1400 lb and there are five 150 lb passengers in your vehicle, the available cargo and luggage load capacity is 650 lb. (1400 - 750 (5 x 150) = 650 lb.)

5. Determine the combined weight of the luggage and cargo loaded on the vehicle. This weight must not safely exceed the available cargo and luggage load capacity calculated in Step 4.

6. If your vehicle will tow a trailer, the load from your trailer will be transferred to your vehicle. Refer to this manual to determine how this reduces the available cargo and luggage load capacity of your vehicle.

WARNING

Do not overload the vehicle, because there is a limit to the total weight or load limit, including passengers and cargo, that the vehicle can carry. Overloading may shorten the service life of the vehicle. If the GVWR or GAWR is exceeded, parts on the vehicle may fail, and this may change the handling of your vehicle. This may cause you to lose control and result in an accident.
