Description

The transmission oil temperature sensor monitors the transmission fluid temperature and sends the readings to the TCM. It is an NTC (Negative Temperature Coefficient) sensor, whose resistance is inversely proportional to the temperature level. The data output by this sensor is used to determine the activation of the torque converter clutch and the deactivation zone within the low and high temperature ranges, and to compensate the hydraulic pressure levels during gear shifting.
