Soft Top Appearance Care
In this manual: SERVICE AND MAINTENANCE
~2min read
- To maintain the appearance of your vehicle's interior trim and soft top, observe the following precautions:
- Do not run the soft top through an automatic car wash. Window scratches and wax buildup may occur.
- Do not leave the vehicle unattended with the top down, as exposure to sun or rain may damage the interior trim.
- Do not use aggressive cleaners or bleaching agents on the top material, as damage may result.
- Do not allow vinyl cleaner to drip and dry on the paint, as it will leave a streak.
- After cleaning the soft top, always make sure it is completely dry before lowering it.
- Use special care when washing the windows, following the instructions in the section "Soft Top Window Care".
Washing – Use Mopar® car wash or an equivalent, or a mild soap solution, warm water and a soft-bristle brush. If additional cleaning is required, use Mopar® Convertible Soft Top Cleaner or an equivalent, or a mild foaming cleaner on the entire top, but support the top from underneath.
Rinsing – Be sure to remove all traces of cleaner by rinsing the top thoroughly with clean water. Allow the top to dry completely before lowering it.
- Do not run the fabric top through an automatic car wash. Window scratching and wax buildup may occur.
- It is recommended that the top be free of water before opening. When operating the top, opening a door or lowering a window while the top is wet may allow water to enter the vehicle interior.
- Use caution when washing the vehicle with water pressure directed at the seals. Water may enter the vehicle interior.
- Careless handling and storage of removable roof panels may damage the seals, allowing water to enter the vehicle interior.
- The front panel(s) must be correctly positioned to ensure a proper seal. Improper installation may allow water to enter the vehicle interior.
- Avoid washing with rollers and/or brushes at car wash stations. Wash the vehicle by hand only, using neutral pH cleaning agents; dry it with a wet chamois. Abrasive products and/or polishes must not be used to clean the vehicle. Bird droppings must be washed off immediately and thoroughly, as the acid they contain is particularly aggressive.
- Avoid parking the vehicle under trees whenever possible. Remove tree sap immediately after it dries; it can only be removed with abrasive products and/or polishes, which is not recommended because they can change the original gloss of the paint.
- Do not use windshield washer fluid undiluted to wash the windshield and rear window. Dilute it with water to at least 50%. Use undiluted windshield washer fluid only when strictly necessary due to outside air temperature conditions.
