Fuel system cautions

~1min read
  • The use of leaded gasoline is prohibited by federal law. Use of leaded gasoline will degrade engine performance and damage the emissions control system.
  • An engine out of tune or certain fuel or ignition malfunctions may cause the catalytic converter to overheat. If you notice a strong burning odor or light smoke, your engine may be failing or misfiring and may require immediate service. Contact an authorized dealer for service assistance.
  • The use of fuel additives now sold as octane boosters is not recommended. Most of these products contain high concentrations of methanol. Fuel system damage or vehicle drivability problems resulting from the use of such fuel or additives are not the responsibility of the manufacturer and may void or not be covered by the New Vehicle Limited Warranty.

NOTE:

Intentional tampering with the emissions control system may result in civil penalties being assessed against you.
