Reformulated gasoline. Fuel additives. Gasoline/oxygenate blends
Reformulated Gasoline
In many areas of the country, cleaner-burning gasoline called "reformulated gasoline" is required. Reformulated gasoline contains oxygenates and is specially blended to reduce vehicle emissions and improve air quality.
The use of reformulated gasoline is recommended. Properly blended reformulated gasoline will provide improved performance and durability of engine and fuel system components.
Fuel Additives
In addition to using unleaded gasoline with the correct octane rating, gasolines containing detergents, corrosion inhibitors, and stabilizer additives are recommended. Using gasolines that contain these additives will help improve fuel economy, reduce emissions, and maintain vehicle performance.
Top Tier Detergent Gasoline contains higher levels of detergents to help minimize engine and fuel system deposits. When available, use Top Tier Detergent Gasoline. Visit www.toptiergas.com for a list of Top Tier Detergent Gasoline retailers.
Avoid indiscriminate use of fuel system cleaning agents. Many of these materials, intended for rubber and varnish removal, may contain aggressive solvents or similar ingredients. They can damage fuel system gaskets and diaphragm materials.
Gasoline/Oxygenate Blends
Some fuel suppliers blend unleaded gasoline with oxygenates such as ethanol.
Problems resulting from the use of gasoline containing more than 15% ethanol (E-15) or gasoline containing methanol are not the responsibility of the manufacturer and may void or not be covered by the New Vehicle Limited Warranty.
