Winter Tires

~1min read

In some regions of the country, the use of winter tires is required in winter. Winter tires may be identified by the mountain/snowflake symbol on the sidewall.

Jeep Wrangler. Snow TiresIf you need winter tires, select tires equivalent in size and type to the original tires. Use snow tires only in sets of four. Failure to do so may adversely affect the safety and handling of your vehicle.

Winter tires generally have lower speed ratings than those originally equipped on your vehicle and must not be operated at a sustained speed greater than 75 mph (120 km/h). For speeds above 75 mph (120 km/h), refer to the original equipment or an authorized tire dealer for recommended safe operating speeds, load, and cold tire pressure.

While studded tires improve performance on ice, skidding and traction on wet or dry road surfaces may be worse than with non-studded tires. Some states prohibit studded tires; therefore, local laws must be checked before using these types of tires.
