Hood Closing

~1min read

1. Before closing the hood, check the following:

  • All engine compartment filler caps must be installed correctly.
  • Gloves, rags, and any other flammable materials must be removed from the engine compartment.

2. Return the support rod to its clip so that it does not rattle.

3. Lower the hood until it is approximately 30 cm (1 ft) above the closed position, then let it drop. Make sure it is securely latched.

WARNING - Hood

  • Before closing the hood, make sure all obstructions are removed from the hood opening. Closing the hood with an obstruction in the hood opening may cause property damage or serious injury.
  • Do not leave gloves, rags, or other flammable materials in the engine compartment. This may cause a fire due to overheating.

WARNING

  • Always double-check that the hood is securely latched before driving. If it is not latched, the hood may open while the vehicle is moving, causing a complete loss of visibility that may lead to an accident.
  • The support rod must be fully inserted into its slot whenever you inspect the engine compartment. Otherwise the hood may fall and injure you.
  • Do not drive the vehicle with the hood open. Visibility will be obstructed and the hood may fall or be damaged.

WARNING

When inspecting the engine compartment, be careful not to hit your head on the hood safety hook located on the underside of the hood.
