Closing the Tailgate

Lower and firmly press the tailgate closed. Make sure the tailgate is securely locked.

WARNING

Make sure your hands, feet, and other parts of your body are clear of the path before closing the tailgate.

CAUTION

Make sure nothing is near the tailgate lock and latch when closing the tailgate. This may damage the tailgate lock.

WARNING - Exhaust Gas

If you drive with the tailgate open, dangerous exhaust gases may be drawn into the vehicle, which may cause serious injury or death to vehicle occupants.

If you must drive with the tailgate open, do not close the vents and all windows so that additional outside air enters the vehicle.

WARNING - Rear Cargo Area

Passengers should never ride in the rear cargo area where no restraint devices are available. To avoid injury in an accident or sudden stop, passengers must always be properly secured.
