  • The tailgate locks or unlocks when all doors are locked or unlocked with the key, transmitter, Smart Key, or central door lock/unlock switch.
  • Only the tailgate unlocks if the tailgate unlock button on the transmitter or Smart Key is pressed for approximately 1 second, or if the switch on the tailgate handle is pressed while the Smart Key is within range.
  • If the tailgate is unlocked, grasp the handle and pull it upward to open it.
  • When the tailgate is opened and then closed, it locks automatically. (All doors must be locked.)

✽ NOTICE

In cold and humid climates, the door lock and door mechanisms may not operate properly due to freezing conditions.

WARNING

The tailgate swings upward. Make sure there are no objects or people near the rear of the vehicle when opening the tailgate.

CAUTION

Make sure the tailgate is closed before driving the vehicle. The tailgate lift cylinders and mounting parts may be damaged if the tailgate is not closed before driving.
