Important - Using the Compact Spare Tire
Your vehicle is equipped with a compact spare tire. This compact spare tire takes up less space than a regular-size tire. This tire is smaller than a regular tire and is intended for temporary use only.
CAUTION
- When using the compact spare tire, drive carefully. The compact spare tire should be replaced with a regular tire and wheel as soon as possible.
- Do not operate the vehicle with more than one compact spare tire in use at the same time.
WARNING
The compact spare tire is for emergency use only. Do not drive your vehicle on this compact spare tire at speeds above 80 km/h. The original tire should be repaired or replaced as soon as possible to avoid failure of the spare, which could result in personal injury or death.
The compact spare tire must be inflated to 420 kPa (60 psi).
✽ NOTICE
Check the tire pressure after installing the spare tire. Adjust it to the specified pressure if necessary.
When using the compact spare tire, observe the following precautions:
- Under no circumstances exceed a speed of 80 km/h; higher speed may damage the tire.
- Drive slowly enough for road conditions to avoid all hazards. Any road hazard, such as a pothole or debris, can seriously damage the compact spare tire.
- Continued use of this tire on the road may cause it to fail, resulting in loss of vehicle control and possible injury.
- Do not exceed the vehicle's maximum load capacity or the load capacity shown on the sidewall of the compact spare tire.
- Avoid driving over obstacles. The compact spare tire has a smaller diameter than a regular tire and reduces ground clearance by approximately 25 mm (1 inch), which may cause damage to the vehicle.
- Do not wash this vehicle in an automatic car wash when the compact spare is installed.
- Do not use snow chains on a compact spare tire. Due to its smaller size, the snow chain will not fit properly. This may damage the vehicle and cause the chain to come off.
- Do not install the compact spare tire on the front axle if the vehicle is to be driven on snow or ice.
- Do not use the compact spare tire on any other vehicle, because this tire was designed specifically for your vehicle.
- The tread life of the compact spare tire is shorter than that of a conventional tire. Inspect the compact spare tire regularly and replace worn compact spare tires with one of the same size and design, mounted on the same wheel.
- Do not use the compact spare tire on any other wheels. Standard tires, winter tires, wheel covers or wheel trim rings may not be used with the compact spare tire. Attempting to do so may damage these components or other vehicle components.
- Do not use more than one compact spare tire at the same time.
- Do not tow a trailer while the compact spare tire is installed.
