Smart Key Precautions

~1min read

✽ NOTICE

  • If you lose your smart key, you may not be able to start the engine. If it becomes necessary to tow the vehicle, it is recommended that you contact an authorized Kia dealer.
  • No more than 2 smart keys can be registered to one vehicle. If you lose a smart key, it is recommended that you contact an authorized Kia dealer.
  • The smart key will not operate if any of the following occurs:
    - The smart key is near a radio transmitter, such as a radio station or airport radio, which may interfere with normal operation of the electronic key.
    - The smart key is near a mobile radio or cellular phone.
    - A smart key for another vehicle is being used near your vehicle.
If the electronic key does not operate properly, open and close the door using the mechanical key. If you have any problems with the smart key, it is recommended that you contact an authorized Kia dealer.
  • If the smart key is placed in close proximity to your mobile phone or smartphone, the signal from the smart key may be blocked by the normal operation of your mobile phone or smartphone. This is especially important when the phone is active, such as making or receiving calls, sending or receiving text messages and/or e-mails. Do not place the smart key and mobile phone or smartphone in the same trouser or jacket pocket, and keep a sufficient distance between the two devices.

CAUTION

Keep the smart key away from water or any other liquid. If the keyless entry system does not operate due to exposure to water or liquids, it is not covered by your vehicle manufacturer's warranty.

CAUTION

Keep the Smart Key away from electromagnetic materials that block electromagnetic waves to the key surface.
