Airbag Deployment Conditions
Front Airbags

Front airbags are designed to deploy in a frontal collision depending on the severity, speed, or angle of the frontal impact.
Side airbags and/or curtain airbags

Side airbags and/or curtain airbags are designed to inflate in the event of a side impact. They are triggered by side impact sensors depending on the force, speed, or angle of the impact resulting from a side collision.
There are also side airbags and curtain airbags. They are designed to inflate in the event of a rollover, as determined by the rollover sensor.
Although the front airbags (driver and front passenger airbags) are designed to inflate in a frontal collision, they may also inflate in other types of collisions if the sensors detect sufficient frontal force from a different type of impact. The side airbags and curtain airbags are designed to inflate in certain side collisions. They may inflate in other types of collisions when lateral force is detected by the sensors. The side airbags and/or curtain airbags may also inflate when the rollover sensors detect that a rollover is likely to occur (even if no rollover actually occurs), or in other situations, including when the vehicle is tilted during towing.
Even where side and/or curtain airbags do not provide protection in a rollover, they may deploy to help prevent occupant ejection, especially for those who are not restrained by seat belts.
If the vehicle chassis is subjected to bumps or objects on unpaved roads, the airbags may deploy. Drive carefully on unpaved roads or on surfaces not intended for vehicle traffic to prevent unintentional airbag deployment.
