Description and Operation of Yaw Rate and Lateral Acceleration Sensor
In this manual: Brake System
~1min read
Description
When the vehicle rotates about its vertical axis, the yaw rate sensor electronically detects the yaw rate by means of vibration of the tuning fork element inside the yaw rate sensor. If the yaw rate reaches a specified value after detection of vehicle yaw, ESC control is activated again. The lateral G sensor detects the lateral acceleration of the vehicle. A small element inside the sensor is attached to the deflecting arm. The direction and magnitude of the lateral G acting on the vehicle can be determined from the change in electrostatic capacitance in accordance with the lateral G.
