Description

The Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) system consists of a throttle body with an integrated control motor and a Throttle Position Sensor (TPS). Instead of a conventional throttle cable, an Accelerator Position Sensor (APS) is used to receive input from the driver. The ECM uses the APS signal to calculate the target throttle angle; the throttle position is then regulated by the ECM through ETC motor control. The TPS signal is used to provide throttle position feedback to the ECM. With ETC, precise throttle position control is possible; external cruise control modules/cables are not required.
