Check whether the stroke is within specification when the parking brake pedal

Check that the travel is within specification when the parking brake pedal is depressed with a force of 66 lbf, 294 N (30 kgf). Also, the parking brake alone should hold the vehicle securely on a fairly steep slope. If the travel is more or less than specified, adjust the parking brake at an authorized Kia dealer.

Travel: 8 to 9 notches

Type B

Check the stroke of the parking brake by counting the number of “clicks’’ heard

Check the parking brake travel by counting the number of audible "clicks" while fully applying it from the released position. Also, the parking brake alone should hold the vehicle securely on a fairly steep slope. If the travel is more or less than specified, have the parking brake adjusted by an authorized Kia dealer.

Travel: 5 to 6 "clicks" at a force of 44 lbf, 196 N (20 kgf).
