Installation of Timing Chain Cover

Install the timing chain cover.

1. Using a gasket scraper, remove all old gasket material from the gasket surfaces.
2. The sealant contact surfaces on the timing chain cover and mating parts (cylinder head, cylinder block and oil pan frame) must be free of engine oil and other contaminants.
3. Before installing the timing chain cover, apply liquid sealant Loctite 5900H or equivalent to the joint between the cylinder head and cylinder block. Assemble the parts within 5 minutes after applying the sealant.

   Bead width: 3.0 mm (0.12 in.)

   

4. After applying liquid sealant Loctite 5900H or equivalent to the timing chain cover, assemble the parts within 5 minutes after applying the sealant, if applicable. A continuous bead of sealant must be applied to prevent any oil leakage path.

   Bead width: 3.0 mm (0.12 in.)

   

5. The locating pins on the cylinder block and the holes in the timing chain cover must be used as references so that the timing chain cover is in the correct position. Tightening torque: Bolts A (M6 x 25): 7.8 ~ 9.8 N·m Bolts B (M8 x 28): 18.6 ~ 23 N·m Bolts C (M8 x 30): 19.6 ~ 24 N·m Bolts D (M10 x 40): 39.2 ~ 44 N·m Bolts E (M10 x 45): 39.2 ~ 44 N·m

   

Install the front crankshaft oil seal. (Refer to Timing System - "Front Oil Seal")

Install the drive belt tensioner. (Refer to Timing System - "Drive Belt Tensioner")

Install the tensioner pulley (A), water pump pulley (B), crankshaft pulley (C) and drive belt tensioner pulley (D). Tightening torque: Idler pulley (A): 53.9 ~ 64 N·m Water pump pulley (B): 7.8 ~ 9.8 N·m Crankshaft pulley (C): 166.6 ~ 176 N·m (17.0 ~ 18.0 kgf·m, 122.9 ~ 130.1 lb-ft) Drive belt tensioner pulley (D): 53.9 ~ 64 N·m

Install the engine mount bracket and connect the ground line. (Refer to Engine and Transaxle Assembly - "Engine Mounting")

Remove the jack from the ladder frame.

Install the oil pan. (Refer to Lubrication System - "Oil Pan")

Install the lower air conditioning compressor bolts. (Refer to Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning - "Compressor")

Install the drive belt. (Refer to Valve Timing System - "Drive Belt").

Install the cylinder head cover. (Refer to Cylinder Head Assembly - "Cylinder Head Cover")

Install the lower cover.

Install the right front wheel.

Install the air cleaner assembly.

Install the duct.

Install the engine cover.

Connect the negative battery cable.

Refill all necessary fluids and check for leaks. Connect GDS. Check for DTCs, notes and clear them. Recheck.
