Main Crash Pad Assembly Repair Procedures

Replacement

Wear gloves to protect your hands.

Using a flat-tip screwdriver, wrap protective tape around the tip and apply protective tape around the relevant parts to prevent damage. Use a plastic panel removal tool to remove the interior trim parts so as not to damage the surface. Be careful not to bend or scratch the trim and panels.

   Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.

   Remove both sides of the front pillar garnish. (Refer to Body Trim - "Front Pillar Trim")

   Remove both sides of the hood side trim. (Refer to Body Trim - "Hood Side Trim")

   Remove the instrument cluster. (Refer to Body Electrical System - "Instrument Cluster")

   Remove the crash pad lower panel. (Refer to Crash Pad - "Crash Pad Lower Panel")

   Remove the glove box housing. (Refer to Crash Pad - "Glove Box Housing")

   Remove the audio unit or AVN head unit. (Refer to Body Electrical System - "Audio Unit") (Refer to Body Electrical System - "AVN Head Unit")

   Remove the airbag center lower panel. (Refer to Crash Pad - "Crash Pad Center Panel")

   Remove the steering column cover lower panel. (Refer to Crash Pad - "Steering Column Cover Panel")

    Remove the steering wheel. (Refer to Steering System - "Steering Wheel")

    Remove the multifunction switch unit. (Refer to Body Electrical System - "Multifunction Switch")

    Using a screwdriver or a trim remover, remove the airbag switch lower panel (A).

    Disconnect the connector from the airbag lower switch (A).

    Using a screwdriver or a trim remover, remove the airbag center ventilation panel (A).

    Disconnect the hazard switch connector (A).

    Loosen the mounting screws, then remove the charge indicator unit using a screwdriver.

    Disconnect the charge indicator warning lamp connector (A).

    Remove the tweeter speaker.

    1. Insert a flat-tip screwdriver (C) into the hole (B) and remove the tweeter speaker grille (A) by prying it up with the screwdriver.

       

    2. Remove the tweeter speaker grille (A).

       

       

    3. Loosen the mounting screws, then remove the tweeter speaker (A).

       

    4. Disconnect the tweeter speaker connector (A).

       

    5. Loosen the mounting screws, then remove the side ventilation panel (A) using a screwdriver.

    Using a screwdriver or puller, remove the photo sensor (A).

    Disconnect the photo sensor connector (B).

    Loosen the mounting bolts (A).

    Disconnect the passenger airbag connector (B).

    Remove the mounting clip (A) from the center fascia side.

    Loosen the mounting bolts and nuts, then remove the driver airbag assembly (B).

    

    When installing the driver airbag, be sure to route the tweeter speaker connector harness (A) through the hole in the side duct ventilation panel.

    Immediately before removing the driver airbag cover, slightly lift the driver airbag cover and remove the tweeter speaker connector mounting clips (A) located at both ends. [LH]

    Install in the reverse order of removal.

    Make sure the crash pad cover is correctly installed on the guide pins. Before tightening the bolts, make sure the airbag wire harness is not pinched. Make sure the connectors are connected correctly and the antenna wire is connected properly. Enter the radio anti-theft code, then enter the customer's preset radio stations.
