Brake fluid

Brake Fluid Level Inspection

Check the fluid level in the reservoir periodically. The fluid level should be between the MAX and MIN marks on the side of the reservoir.

Before removing the reservoir cap and adding brake fluid, clean the area around the cap to prevent brake fluid contamination.

CAUTION - Brake fluid selection

Use only brake fluid in the brake system. A small amount of unsuitable fluid (such as engine oil) may cause damage to the brake system.

If the level is low, add fluid up to the MAX level. The level will drop as mileage accumulates. This is normal and is related to brake pad wear. If the fluid level is too low, have the brake system checked by an authorized Kia dealer.

Use only the specified brake fluid. (Refer to “Recommended Lubricants and Capacities” in chapter 8.)

Never mix different types of fluid.

If the brake system requires frequent fluid additions, the vehicle should be inspected by an authorized Kia dealer.

Handle brake fluid carefully when replacing and adding it. Do not allow it to contact your eyes. If brake fluid gets into your eyes, flush them immediately with large amounts of fresh tap water. Have your eyes examined by a doctor as soon as possible.

CAUTION - Brake fluid

Do not allow brake fluid to contact the vehicle body paint, as this may damage the paint finish.

Brake fluid that has been left open to the air for a long period must never be used, as its quality cannot be guaranteed. It should be disposed of properly.
