Wipers

Blade Inspection

It is known that industrial hot waxes applied in automatic car washes make the windshield difficult to clean.

Contamination of the windshield or wiper blades with foreign matter can reduce wiper performance. Common sources of contamination include insects, tree sap, and hot wax treatments used by some commercial car washes. If the blades do not wipe properly, clean the glass and blades with a good cleaning agent or mild detergent, and rinse thoroughly with clean water.

CAUTION - Wiper blades

To avoid damaging the wiper blades, do not use gasoline, kerosene, paint thinner, or other solvents on or near them.

Blade Replacement

When the wipers no longer clean properly, the blades may be worn or cracked and require replacement.

To avoid damaging the wiper arms or other components, do not attempt to move the wipers manually.

Using a wiper blade not specified for this vehicle may cause wiper malfunction and failure.

Front Windshield Wiper Blade

For convenience, move the wiper blades to the service position as follows:

After turning off the engine, move the wiper switch to the MIST position and hold it for more than 2 seconds while the wiper blade is in the fully raised position within 20 seconds.

WARNING - Wiper arms

Do not allow the wiper arm to drop onto the windshield, as it may chip or crack the windshield.

1. Raise the wiper arm.

2. Lift the wiper blade clip. Then pull the blade assembly down and remove it.

3. Install the new blade assembly.

4. Return the wiper arm to the windshield.

5. Turn the ignition switch to ON. The wiper arms will return to the normal operating position.
