Kia air conditioning systems are filled with environmentally friendly refrigerant*.
1. Start the engine. Press the A/C button.
2. Set the mode to
position.
3. Set the outside air or recirculated air control to the desired position.
4. Adjust the fan speed and temperature control to maintain maximum comfort.
CAUTION
- The refrigerant system must be serviced only by trained and certified technicians to ensure correct and safe operation.
- The cooling system must be serviced in a well-ventilated area.
- The air conditioning evaporator (cooling coil) must never be repaired or replaced on a vehicle that has been used or scrapped. A new replacement MAC evaporator must be certified (and marked) as conforming to SAE Standard J2842.
✽ NOTICE
- When using the air conditioning system, closely watch the temperature gauge when driving uphill or in heavy traffic with high outside temperatures. Operating the air conditioner may cause the engine to overheat. Continue to use the blower fan, but turn the air conditioning system off if the temperature gauge indicates engine overheating.
- When opening the windows in humid weather, the air conditioning may create water droplets inside the vehicle. Since excessive water droplets may damage electrical equipment, the air conditioner should be used only with the windows closed.
- If the vehicle has been parked in direct sunlight in hot weather, open the windows briefly to let the hot air inside the vehicle escape.
- Use the air conditioner to reduce humidity and moisture inside the vehicle on rainy or humid days.
- While the air conditioning system is operating, you may occasionally notice a slight change in engine speed as the air conditioner compressor cycles on and off. This is a normal operating characteristic of the system.
- Run the air conditioning system for a few minutes each month to ensure maximum system performance.
- When using the air conditioning system, you may notice clear water dripping (or even a puddle) on the ground under the passenger side of the vehicle. This is a normal operating characteristic of the system.
- Operating the air conditioning system in recirculation mode provides maximum cooling; however, continuous operation in this mode may cause the air inside the vehicle to become stale.
- In cooling mode, you may occasionally notice a misty airflow due to rapid cooling and humid air intake. This is a normal operating characteristic of the system.
