Curtain Airbag

Curtain airbags are located along both side roof rails above the front and rear doors. They are designed to help protect the heads of front seat passengers and rear outboard seat passengers in certain side collisions.

Curtain airbags are designed to deploy during certain side collisions, depending on the severity, angle, speed and point of impact of the collision. Curtain airbags are not designed to deploy in all side impact situations, frontal or rear collisions, or in most rollover situations.

WARNING

• Do not hang heavy objects on the coat hooks for safety reasons.
• For side impact and curtain airbags to provide the best protection for both front seat passengers and both rear outboard passengers, all occupants must sit upright with seat belts properly fastened. Most importantly, children must sit in a proper child restraint on the rear seat.
• When children are seated in the rear outboard seats, they must be seated in a proper child restraint system.
  Always install the child restraint system as far from the door as possible, and secure the child restraint system in the locked position.
• Do not allow passengers to lean their heads or bodies against the door, rest their arms on the door, extend their arms out of the window, or place objects between the door and passengers when they are seated in seats equipped with side and/or curtain airbags.
• Never attempt to open or repair any components of the side curtain airbag system. We recommend that the system be serviced by an authorized Kia dealer.
  Failure to follow the above instructions may result in injury or death to vehicle occupants in an accident.

WARNING - Do Not Attach Objects

• Do not place any objects on the airbag. Also do not attach objects around the airbag area that may interfere with inflation, such as doors, side door glass, front and rear pillars, or the roof side rail.
• Do not hang rigid or breakable objects on the coat hook.
