SRS Care

~1min read

The SRS requires virtually no maintenance, and there are no serviceable parts. If the SRS warning light does not come on or remains illuminated, we recommend that the system be inspected by an authorized Kia dealer.

WARNING

  • Modifying SRS components or wiring, including adding any badges to the steering pad cover or modifying the vehicle body structure, may adversely affect SRS performance and may result in possible injury.
  • To clean the airbag cover trims, use only a soft dry cloth or one moistened with plain water. Solvents or cleaners may adversely affect the airbag cover and proper system deployment.
  • Do not place any objects over or near the steering wheel airbag module, instrument panel, and front passenger airbag module cover above the glove box, as any such object can cause injury if the vehicle is involved in a collision severe enough to deploy the airbags.
  • If the airbags have deployed, we recommend that the system be replaced by an authorized Kia dealer.
  • Do not tamper with or disconnect the SRS wiring or other SRS components. Doing so may cause injury due to accidental airbag deployment or may render the SRS inoperative.
  • If SRS components must be discarded, or if the vehicle is to be scrapped, observe all safety precautions. An authorized Kia dealer is familiar with these precautions and can provide you with the necessary information. Failure to observe these precautions and procedures may increase the risk of personal injury.
  • If your vehicle has been flooded or has wet carpet or water on the floor, do not attempt to start the engine; we recommend that you contact an authorized Kia dealer.
