Electrochromic Mirror (ECM)

~1min read

The electrochromic mirror automatically controls glare from the headlights of vehicles behind you at night or in low light driving conditions. The sensor built into the mirror detects the light level around the vehicle and automatically controls glare from the headlights of vehicles behind you.

With the engine running, glare is automatically controlled by the sensor installed in the rearview mirror.

Whenever the shift lever is moved to the R (Reverse) position, the mirror automatically moves to the brightest setting to improve the view of drivers behind the vehicle.

CAUTION

When cleaning the mirror, use a paper towel or similar material moistened with glass cleaner. Do not spray glass cleaner directly onto the mirror, as liquid may enter the mirror housing.

To operate the electrochromic mirror:

  • Press the ON/OFF button (1) to turn on the automatic dimming function. The mirror indicator will illuminate. Press the ON/OFF button again to turn off the automatic dimming function. The mirror indicator will go off.
  • The mirror defaults to the ON position each time the ignition key is turned on.
