Roof Rack Mounting Bracket

To install or remove the roof rack, use the mounting bracket and the roof cover.
When installing the roof rack, use the following procedure.
1. Insert a thin tool (coin or flat-blade screwdriver) into the slot and slide the cover in the direction of the arrow on the cover.
WARNING
Use a coin or a flat-blade screwdriver to remove the roof rack cover. Using a fingernail may damage the nail.

2. Turn the cover halfway and insert the cover tab into the roof opening, as shown in the illustration.
✽ NOTICE
To prevent loss of the roof rack cover, install the cover on the roof before you install the roof rack.
3. After using the roof rack, reinstall the cover on the roof in the reverse order of removal.
✽ NOTICE
If the vehicle is equipped with a sunroof, make sure the cargo does not interfere with the sunroof operation.
CAUTION
- When carrying cargo on the roof rack, take the necessary precautions to make sure the cargo does not damage the vehicle roof.
- When carrying large items on the roof, make sure they do not exceed the overall length or width of the roof.
WARNING
- The vehicle center of gravity will be higher when items are loaded on the roof. Avoid sudden starts, braking, sharp turns, sudden maneuvers, or high speeds, which may cause loss of vehicle control or rollover, resulting in an accident.
- Always drive slowly and turn carefully when carrying items on the roof. Strong wind updrafts caused by passing vehicles or natural causes may create sudden upward pressure on items loaded on the roof. This is especially true when carrying large flat items, such as wooden panels or mattresses. This may cause items to fall from the roof and damage your vehicle or injure others around you.
- To prevent damage to or loss of cargo while driving, frequently check before or during the trip to make sure the items on the roof are securely fastened.
