Parking Assist System Non-Operating Conditions

~2min read

The Parking Assist System may not operate normally when:

1. Moisture has frozen on the sensor. (It will operate normally when the moisture has melted.)

2. The sensor is covered with foreign material, such as snow or water, or the sensor cover is blocked. (It will operate normally when the material is removed or the sensor is no longer blocked.)

3. The sensor is contaminated with foreign material, such as snow or water. (The detection range will return to normal when removed.)

4. The parking assist button is turned off.

The parking assist system may not operate properly when:

1. Driving on uneven road surfaces, such as dirt roads, gravel, bumps, or slopes.

2. Objects producing excessive noise, such as vehicle horns, loud motorcycle engines, or air brakes of trucks, may interfere with the sensor.

3. Heavy rain or water spray.

4. Wireless transmitters or mobile phones near the sensor.

5. The sensor is covered with snow.

The detection range may decrease if:

1. The outside air temperature is extremely hot or cold.

2. Undetectable objects smaller than 1 m (40 in.) high and 14 cm (6 in.) in diameter.

The following objects may not be detected by the sensors:

1. Sharp or thin objects such as ropes, chains, or small poles.

2. Objects that tend to absorb the sensor frequency, such as clothing, spongy materials, or snow.

✽ NOTICE

1. The warning may sound inconsistently depending on the speed and shape of the detected objects.
2. The parking assist system may malfunction if the vehicle bumper height or sensor installation has been changed. Any non-genuine equipment or accessories may also interfere with sensor performance.
3. The sensor may not detect objects less than 30 cm from the sensor, or it may determine an incorrect distance. Use with caution.
4. When the sensor is frozen or covered with snow or water, the sensor may not operate until the spots disappear. Remove them with a soft cloth.
5. Do not press, scratch, or strike the sensor with any hard objects that may damage the sensor surface. Damage to the sensor may occur.

✽ NOTICE

This system can only detect objects within the range and location of the sensors. It cannot detect objects in other areas where sensors are not installed. Also, small or thin objects, or objects located between the sensors, may not be detected. Always check visually in front of and behind the vehicle while driving. Be sure to inform all drivers of the vehicle who may be unfamiliar with the system about the system's capabilities and limitations.

WARNING

Be especially careful when the vehicle approaches objects on the road, especially pedestrians, and especially children. Be aware that some objects may not be detected by the sensors due to object distance, size, or material, or anything else that may limit sensor effectiveness. Always perform a visual inspection to make sure the vehicle is clear of all obstacles before moving the vehicle in any direction.
